Bladder Infections: Better Treatment, Less Taboo, More Research
01.07.2026 14:13
In our translational research project mTORUS, we are developing new, targeted therapeutic approaches for recurrent bladder infections. The aim is to offer those affected more effective and better tolerated treatment options in the long term and to sustainably improve bladder health.

Bladder infections are among the most common infections worldwide; millions of people suffer from them every year – many of them repeatedly. And yet the topic is often associated with shame. Symptoms are played down, trivialized or not mentioned at all. Those affected can quickly feel alone with their pain, uncertainty and fears.
This is exactly where the national campaign “Blase gut. Leben gut.” (“Healthy bladder. Healthy life.”) comes in. It aims to raise awareness of bladder health among the Swiss population and to sustainably support and specifically promote medical care and research. More information is available at www.blasengesundheit.ch.
Bladder problems are neither a marginal issue nor an inevitable fate. They deserve attention, open dialogue and modern, research-based medical care. By investigating innovative treatment strategies in mTORUS and speaking openly about bladder health, we want to help break the taboo.
The official launch of the campaign will be marked by a benefit concert on 30 August 2026 at 5 pm in the Tonhalle Zurich. Opera stars Sonya Yoncheva and Piotr Beczala will perform together with the Swiss Orchestra under the baton of Lena-Lisa Wüstendörfer, sending out a powerful cultural signal in support of bladder health.
All ticket proceeds will go directly to bladder research – a concrete contribution to ensuring that people affected can benefit from better, more individualized treatment options in the future.
