Incubator Projects
The LOOP Zurich's Incubator Projects, as part of their first call for proposals in March 2024, aim to advance precision medicine through collaborative research among Zurich’s leading institutions. These projects focus on exploring innovative ways to better understand diseases and create individualized treatments by leveraging the combined expertise of ETH Zurich, the University of Zurich, and the city's university hospitals. The research areas include discovering novel molecular pathways and targets, as well as developing new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. A critical feature of these projects is their interdisciplinary nature, requiring collaboration across at least two of The LOOP Zurich’s partner institutions. Additionally, fostering career development for young scientists is a priority, with post-doctoral researchers expected to take leadership roles within the projects.
Funding for Incubator Projects is set at a maximum of CHF 1 million for a duration of up to three years, covering direct project costs such as personnel and research materials. The selection process emphasizes medical relevance, scientific novelty, and the project's benefit to Zurich's biomedical ecosystem. Proposals go through a two-stage submission process, starting with an outline due in April 2024, followed by a full proposal in July. The LOOP Zurich aims to enhance Zurich’s position as a leader in precision medicine while supporting the growth of the next generation of scientific leaders.
