Integrating Expertise in Clinical Research, Biomedicine, and Bioinformatics

The LOOP Zurich joins the excellence in biomedical, clinical, and bioinformatics science from the six partner institutions in a separate organization, to pool their strengths and enable innovative large-scale research projects. Interdisciplinary translational approaches will pave the way for elucidating disease mechanisms and developing novel disease-modifying treatment options. Research projects will inherently include clinical testing and should in the mid- and long-term translate into benefits for the patient following incorporation into clinical practice.

The Loop Zürich projects will benefit from access to large patient databases and biobanks that constitute a tremendous resource of biomedical information. Correspondingly, bioinformatics will play a critical role in this context. Combining a novel medical computer science platform with machine learning tools will allow pursuing completely new approaches.
