The LOOP Zurich recently welcomed members of its Scientific Advisory Board for a midterm review of the translational research projects LOOBesity and mTORUS. The meeting provided an opportunity to reflect on the progress made so far, discuss scientific developments, and explore the next steps for both initiatives.
Throughout the review sessions, the project teams presented their latest findings and shared insights into the challenges encountered along the way. The discussions highlighted the significant advances achieved within a relatively short time and underlined the value of close collaboration between researchers, clinicians and partners across disciplines.
The meeting also brought together many familiar faces while welcoming new colleagues and younger researchers who are contributing fresh perspectives, curiosity and energy to the projects. This exchange of ideas across experience levels is an important part of the collaborative environment that The LOOP Zurich seeks to foster.
Beyond the scientific programme, participants had the opportunity to visit FocusTerra, the Earth & Science Discovery Center of ETH Zurich. The visit offered insights into the global challenges surrounding CO₂ and potential strategies to address them. Interestingly, many of these issues – such as understanding complex systems, identifying effective intervention points and working across disciplinary boundaries – strongly resonate with the challenges faced in medical research.
Overall, the midterm review was an inspiring and productive gathering for The LOOP Zurich and its Scientific Advisory Board. The discussions generated new ideas, strengthened collaborations and provided renewed momentum for the next phase of the LOOBesity and mTORUS projects.
The LOOP Zurich would like to thank all project teams, advisory board members and participants for their engagement and valuable contributions.
